I am a Tribetes Captain because I want other diabetics to have the opportunity to experience what I have since I found Insulindependence through an internet search. I have been doing triathlons for the past 22 years. Three years ago I had most of my pancreas remvoved which resulted in my becoming a Type 1 diabetic. As I was recovering from surgery I got the idea to do my first race as a diabetic exactly one year post surgery. With the help of Insulindependence I found a wealth of information on endurance sports and diabetes and a great group of people to support and mentor me. Now I want to be a person who can show other diabetics that sport is a great way to help manage their diabetes and have fun at the same time."
