I started participating in triathlons about two years after I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2001, and have always found that having a goal to work toward has helped to keep me active and regulate my blood sugars. I have trained with numerous people and clubs over the years, but never one that was focused on diabetes. When I heard about iD and Triabetes, I had to get involved. I am really looking forward to being an active member of my community and helping to educate and motivate individuals affected by diabetes in the NorCal Region. My goals for 2011-12 are to complete my first Ironman (IM Louisville) and to help motivate others others along the way.
