Triabetes Jr. Captains will train with their mentors in preparation for the 2012 Boulder Ironman 70.3 weekend. Captains and Jr. Captains will take turns on the course as they compete in respective half Iron- and kids distance swim-bike-run races.
Highlights of the weekend will include a parenting workshop, a kids hike in the Rocky Mountain foothills, an awards dinner for friends and family of par-ticipating athletes, and a finish line celebration that is sure to create lifetime memories.
Triabetes Junior Captains Event - IronKids Boulder, August 2-5, 2012
A highlight of the Junior Captains program is the IronKids triathlon and a hiking adventure that takes place during the days leading up to the year-end Half-Ironman event. Kids learn the value of communication and peer support in a positively challenging outdoor environment.

Welcome dinner activity hosted by Insulindependence Kids bike fitting for the IronKids race.
While the kids are away on their wilderness adventure, parents are invited to take part in a 2-day retreat to discuss parenting children with diabetes. Workshops will be facilitated by Insulindependence and guest experts in parenting children with diabetes. Participants will also have a chance enjoy outdoor activities in the region.
